The opportunity identified
The practice sought to launch a new service, recognising that complex legal documents often overwhelmed executive management in high-pressure situations, leaving them reliant on in-house legal support to interpret the content. Our client aimed to present key information in a more concise, numerical format.
Metamorf’s contribution
Metamorf developed software that allowed users to input all dispute issues and assign win/loss probabilities. The software generated a decision tree mapping out all possible legal scenarios, calculating probabilities, financial outcomes, and expected financial outcomes for each. These scenarios were then displayed in an interactive dashboard, offering clients clear visualisations, including payoff analysis, issue sensitivity, and the ability to measure the expected outcomes against a settlement offer.

The tool helped clients focus on key issues while clearly understanding the financial implications of different strategies. This approach boosted clients' confidence in their decision-making and allowed our client to charge additional fees. It also led to the creation of a new service line, and the product earned a Financial Times Innovation Award.
